Solids or not

I am in the process of expanding Lucy's repertoire of tastes and textures. We started small a few weeks back with some rice cereal. Although Lucy would make some funny faces, she seemed to tolerate it. Then I moved to sweet potatoes, one of my favorite vegetables. She didn't seem excited about this either, but again she tolerated it.

I then decided that maybe she would like to try some fruit, a banana perhaps. That was comical. I don't think she swallowed one little bit of any of the banana I gave her. Not to be defeated, I tried several days in a row but she was just not biting (literally).

I then had a brilliant idea, maybe what Lucy was really craving were peas, the delightfully sweet pint-sized morsels that I dearly love. Well, she gagged and choked and spit and spattered and let me know without a doubt that peas were not for her either.

Somewhere along this journey, Lucy also decided it would be hilarious to "blow raspberries" while she is being fed. This results in a nice showering of orange, green and white all over both of us. Which she seems to thoroughly enjoy.

I made applesauce and will give her a taste tomorrow. Only time, and our outfit, will tell if she likes it.

6 month stats

By her doctor's scale she was 16 lbs 13 oz which is in the 50th percentile. 27 inches long, which is 90th percentile and her head is 17.5 which is 95th percentile.

Go Lucy!!!!

1/2 a year old

Yesterday was Lucy's 1/2 birthday. To celebrate, I sang a lovely rendition of "Happy half birthday to you" (well, I thought it was lovely) and a full day of playing. Unfortunately I couldn't find a recipe for birthday cake that was safe for a 6 month old, haha, so we ended up with sweet potatoes.

I know I say this every time she is a month older, but I CANNOT believe it has been 6 months since my sweet girl was born. I love her a million times more than I could've possibly imagined.

Lucy is also a whopping 16 lbs 15 oz! Yay Lucy!!!!
